Liverpool forward Divock Origi has told the Belgian media he wants to make the same progression as Everton star Romelu Lukaku. Both players are away with the Belgium national team, and Lukaku is likely to get the nod from Roberto Martinez to start their upcoming games.

Speaking to Het Nieuwsblad, Origi was asked whether the gap between him and Lukaku was getting bigger, after the Everton forward’s impressive season.

The 21-year-old said he doesn’t believe this is the case because he’s playing at a big club like Liverpool, and knows what he can produce. Orgi thinks Everton’s Lukaku has worked hard to get where he is today, and the Liverpool player’s plan is to work towards this level.

“I do not feel this (that the gap is growing). I know what I can do. I play at a top club in Liverpool. Romelu is indeed doing well, because he works very hard and is focused on the right things. I want the same progression as Romelu and I’m working for it, “said Origi.

Lukaku has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season, and recently passed the 20 league goals mark for Everton. On the other hand, Origi in recent weeks has struggled to get games for Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp preferring Firmino as his lone striker.
