Liverpool have ‘expressed concrete interest’ in highly rated Hoffenheim youngster Maximilian Beier and been in touch about a transfer.

That’s according to Sport BILD, who report Liverpool may provide competition to Borussia Dortmund for the striker.

The newspaper reports that Beier, who was the sixth best U21 goal scorer in the top five leagues in Europe last season, has a list of clubs lining up for him.

With 16 goals and three assists to his name he was the outstanding player for Hoffenheim and now he wants to take the next step in his career.

Dortmund are interested in him after selling Niclas Füllkrug to West Ham United, a sale which has created a need and given them the funds to find a new player.

However, they could face competition from Liverpool, who are also ‘vying’ for the youngster’s signature and have ‘expressed a concrete interest’ in him.

Dortmund are confident of beating them if they do enter the race properly as they believe they can offer more to the player than the likes of Liverpool and persuade Beier if it came to that.
