There’s been a little frustration among some Liverpool supporters about the lack of business at the Premier League club this summer.
It seems clear there’s money to spend, given the move for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, and there’s likely going to be more action in the final couple of weeks of the window.
Thursday’s edition of O Jogo brings some interesting claims from Portugal. They state Liverpool ‘are set to move’ for Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio.
Miguel Pinho, the central defender’s agent is going to have a meeting with the Anfield club, where presumably he’ll try to get a firm offer from them.
As O Jogo explain, Inacio has been of interest to Liverpool for quite a while, the newspaper then says ‘the club from the city of the Beatles should soon confirm its interest in the Sporting centre-back in a meeting with Miguel Pinho, the defender’s agent, in the coming days’.
Pinho is also Bruno Fernandes’ agent and negotiated the player’s new Manchester United contract, which was announced on Wednesday. That obviously saw him travel to England, where it’s stated he still is, and allows an easier meeting with Liverpool.
O Jogo say Liverpool ‘are expected to present the agent with a proposal’ for Inacio, who has been identified as an option to fill the Joel Matip hole.
Inacio has a €60m release, but it’s stated Sporting would agree to sell for around €45m.
If Liverpool can get close to the money they’re asking for Sepp van den Berg then that would provide a chunk of the Inacio fee.
