Liverpool are the ‘most enthusiastic’ of the suitors for Atlético Madrid midfielder Saúl this summer, with him looking likely to depart the Wanda Metropolitano.
That’s according to AS, who cover the midfielder’s situation today as he has suitors lining up to sign him.
They explain that the Spanish star has ‘more ways than Barça’ this summer if he is to leave Atlético as expected.
Diego Simeone’s side are currently negotiating a potential swap deal with Barcelona for Antoine Griezmann, but that is a complicated operation that will also need approval from La Liga to go through.
Yesterday they were named as one of the clubs who are ‘very interested’ in a move this summer, and AS double down on that by describing them as such once again.
However, they now add that of all the suitors; it is Klopp’s side who are the ‘most enthusiastic’ about getting the player to sign.
Indeed, in England, it’s said that they have already offered €40m to make a move happen, although AS don’t back this up. What they do say is that for Atlético, that would be an ‘insufficient amount’, although his price tag has dropped.
At the minute, Saúl is simply training with the club in pre-season and is taking the situation ‘calmly’, comfortable in the knowledge that there are options out there for him.
Liverpool are seemingly one of them, but they will have to hope the proposed deal with Barcelona, which is ‘not closed’ by any means, does not come off if they are to get their man.
