Earlier this week, multiple reports stated Liverpool have dropped out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham because the Borussia Dortmund star is too expensive for them.

On Wednesday, Foot Mercato reported the Reds have set their sights on Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch as the cheaper alternative to Bellingham.

Liverpool’s interest in the 20-year-old and also their efforts to secure his services is explained by Bild on Friday.

It’s claimed the Merseyside club’s ‘delegation’ have held talks with the former Ajax man’s camp this week for his transfer.

This won’t be last meeting between the two parties for the Netherlands international as the report states more talks should take place in his country, likely in the coming weeks.

Gravenberch hasn’t managed to have more prominence since he arrived at the Bundesliga side last summer. He featured 17 times in the league and it includes one start. Despite his struggles this season, the Dutchman ‘arouses interest’ from Liverpool.

Jürgen Klopp wants to reshape his midfield in the summer and has identified Gravenberch as one of the targets. This won’t please Bayern, who want to count on him next season.

The player has already stated he’s open to changing clubs in the summer if his situation at Bayern doesn’t improve.

“Ideally, I would like to be successful at Bayern. But if that doesn’t work out and I don’t get a chance, then I might have to look around. At the moment I’m not thinking about it and I hope that I can change my situation at Bayern by training and playing well,” he told Ajax Showtime.

With Liverpool chasing the Dutchman, it needs to be seen whether he’ll join Klopp’s side or decide to continue at Bayern next season.
