AC Milan weren’t able to complete the signing of Liverpool’s Joe Gomez in the summer window, despite showing interest in him.
Earlier this month, we covered claims from Italy which said the centre-back is a viable option for January.
Sport Mediaset back that up as the Liverpool player continues to be on Milan’s radar.
They are looking for a new defender in the next window and the England international is on top of their list. It’s claimed the Italian club are ready to make a new attempt to sign him in January.
MilanLive.it also report the Rossoneri’s desire to improve their centre-back options in the mid-season window.
Milan sporting director Igli Tare has already started taking steps to sign the 28-year-old. It’s claimed the official contacted the Reds in recent weeks over a potential move for Gomez.
Last week, Liverpool summer signing Giovanni Leoni suffered a serious injury and is set for a long spell on the sidelines.
The report states Leoni’s injury need not be a setback for Milan to sign Gomez. Arne Slot’s side could sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi in January, after missing out on him this summer.
If that happens, Milan can take advantage of the situation and sign Gomez. It’s believed a deal could be done for just €7m. That feels wildly optimistic on behalf of Milan.
