Liverpool are now one more club to be added to the race for Benfica youngster Antonio Silva.
The mention of the Reds comes from Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, who today feature a story about the big attention the defender has been drawing from European clubs.
The outlet points out that Liverpool are one of the sides who’ve been ‘constantly following’ Benfica’s performances and the potential of their younger players.
Benfica had already heard about ‘echoes’ from the market regarding interest from Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City in Antonio Silva.
Added to all those clubs, there’s also Paris Saint Germain, with the French media this week writing that the Ligue 1 club are attentive to the player as well.
That obviously puts Benfica in a very good position regarding the youngster’s future value. O Jogo writes that club president Rui Costa ‘doesn’t accept to negotiate’ the defender’s exit, who has a contract until 2027 and is protected by a €100m release clause.
Liverpool already signed Darwin Núñez from Benfica last summer, and seem to be attentive to more targets at the Lisbon giants. Specifically speaking of Antonio Silva, it seems the battle for him will get quite complicated.
