A couple of days ago, Liverpool announced the appointment of Michael Edwards as the club’s sporting director. Liverpool, like Tottenham, are one of several clubs to have experimented with having a sporting director, and, again like Spurs, have previously had Damien Comolli.

The Reds have been restructuring football operations at the club, and Edwards was promoted to the newly created role. However, reports in Italy suggest it could have happened a lot sooner, if Liverpool got the man they wanted.

According to Italian website Calciomercato, Liverpool considered signing Fabio Paratici in October last year, when Jurgen Klopp was appointed as the manager of the club.

However, nothing really materialised in the end, as Paratici was keen on staying at Juventus. Calciomercato say Paratici might consider leaving Juventus, but only in the distant future.

The Serie A giants are keen on renewing Paratici’s current contract at Juventus, and could offer an extension by the end of the season.

Tottenham reportedly tried signing Fabio Paratici a couple of years ago, but it appears the Juventus chief isn’t that keen on moving to England yet.
