Liverpool are in ‘concrete talks’ with RB Leipzig over youngster Tyler Morton, with the German side still keen on him.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Leipzig have initially pushed for a loan deal with an option to buy.
That, though, is a deal Liverpool aren’t interested in and so talks are continuing to find an agreement over the 21-year-old.
The journalist makes it clear that Leipzig’s interest in Morton is a longstanding one and they’re pressing ahead with an attempt to sign him this summer.
Concrete talks have taken place, but Liverpool were not interested in the ‘loan structure’. The suggestion is that they’re open to a loan deal but not in the manner that RB Leipzig have presented it.
The key is that Morton can imagine joining Leipzig and seems open to the idea of the move, although there is no agreement on his side as of yet.
Liverpool may be hesitant to sanction such a deal given what happened with Fabio Carvalho this season, with him loaned to the German side for the campaign but that ultimately cut short as he had barely featured for them.
Perhaps they want to avoid the same happening here, or, alternatively, ensure that if there is a loan taking place there is a definitive agreement at the end of it rather than an option.
That remains to be seen but talks are underway regardless over Morton, so expect more developments before long.
