Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo today brings a front page story saying ‘Operación Futuro’, about all the youngsters who should soon have an impact at Barcelona.
One of these players is Pedri, a 16-year-old kid from UD Las Palmas, who has agreed to join the Camp Nou side next year.
Mundo Deportivo talks about his roots with Barça, since his father and his grandfather have links to the club, and then says that was one of the reasons why he rejected several offers.
Some of the clubs who tried to sign him were Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Valencia, Sevilla and Betis.
This is not the first time Pedri is linked to these Premier League clubs. While Barcelona worked to sign him in the summer, both Manchester City and Chelsea were already said to be chasing him.
Pep Guardiola’s side were said to be ‘scouting’ the youngster, and the Blues were claiming to be ‘moving strongly’ to get him. But the Spanish media was well aware of Barcelona’s offer, and knew he would end up at the Camp Nou.
