Liverpool and Brentford are among the clubs keen on FC Nordsjælland’s Andreas Schjelderup.

The forward has starred for the Danish club, managing 10 goals and one assist from 17 matches this season. His fine displays have attracted attention from the Reds, Thomas Frank’s side and other clubs.

According to TV2, Liverpool and Brentford have ‘presented specific projects’ to the 18-year-old’s representatives. The details of these are not mentioned, but the approaches are likely to be unsuccessful.

That’s because of Benfica’s firm interest in the Norway U21 international. They intend to travel to Copenhagen to negotiate the final details with Nordsjælland to seal the deal.

Schjelderup is also determined to join the Portuguese club as he believes it is best for his development, despite the approaches from Liverpool and Brentford.

Nordsjælland wanted to retain the player until the end of this season, but Benfica want to have the Norwegian immediately.

Schjelderup mainly operates on the left wing, a position Liverpool have already strengthened by signing Cody Gakpo. Meanwhile, Brentford have Keane Lewis-Potter, Mikkel Damsgaard and Yoane Wissa who can operate on the left side of attack.
