Last summer, Real Madrid reportedly looked at Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté but the Reds were reluctant to let him leave.

The centre-back’s contract expires at the end of this season and Liverpool want him to sign an extension. Earlier this week, AS reported Liverpool fear losing him as a free agent and they based the report on Arne Slot’s recent comments on Konaté.

Friday’s edition of Marca reports Real Madrid are looking at centre-backs in the final year of their contracts.

The France international is in the list along with other targets including his compatriot, Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano.

Antonio Rüdiger, 32, and David Alaba, 33, both have contracts expiring in 2026. The situation with the duo forces the Spanish giants to look for a new centre-back after this season.

Journalist José Félix Díaza Marca director, covered this report, and he claims Konaté is the No.1 target for Real Madrid.

Díaz states there’s a belief at Liverpool that ‘his commitment to Real Madrid is more than just a rumour’.

The defender has played 10 matches for the Premier League winners this season.
