If there’s one area of the pitch that Liverpool need to bolster in the coming months, it’s their midfield.

The panic arrival of Arthur Melo has been nothing short of a disaster, and further injuries made the first half of the campaign very difficult for Jürgen Klopp and his men.

That’s why we’ve seen a lot of stories linking Liverpool with midfielder all over Europe, although we’ve not seen many reports about them turning their attention to the Championship, at Sheffield United in particular.

Jeunes Footeux in France, however, believe the Reds are keeping an eye on Sander Berge, who has remained somewhat stuck at Bramall Lane.

When Sheffield United were relegated from the Premier League, many expected the Norwegian to leave, but he has remained with the Blades, who are currently second in the Championship.

The French website state the player ‘wants to leave’ the Championship side, who is of interest to ‘many Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea’.

The pair have been ‘attentive’ to his situation, and could move for him in January.

That would come at a price, though, but the website say it would be relatively cheap compared to others out there, with him currently valued at €16m, but Sheffield United wanting a little bit more than that, before suggesting €20m.

We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s certainly an option for Liverpool, who need someone new in their midfield, and Berge certainly knows English football well enough.
