Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez from Benfica in the summer to strengthen their attacking division this season.
The Uruguay international has scored six goals and registered an assist from 13 matches in all competitions, which includes goals in the Reds’ last two Champions League outings.
After managing a goal and an assist in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Fulham in the first league tie of the season, the striker was sent off in the following match against Crystal Palace.
The 23-year-old received a straight red card for pushing his head towards Joachim Andersen. This meant he missed the next three league games for the Merseyside club.
ESPN Uruguay were given an opportunity to have a chat with Jürgen Klopp’s man, and he revealed he received some advice from Anfield favourite Luis Suarez on how to control his emotions in the Premier League.
“It was a good thing because not many bother to pick up the phone and send you a message, I think his gesture was very important to me. Luis is a benchmark, an idol around the world,” the Liverpool frontman said.
“I’m just starting out, I’m young, and he knows all these things because he’s even played in the Premier League with Liverpool.
“Luis told me that these things in the Premier League, are going to happen in all the games, that they are going to come looking for me, that they are going to hit me, and that I must become strong, and I must not repeat the shit he sent me. ‘Listen to an idiot like me,’ he told me. I am very grateful for that message and the love he has for me.”
Since returning from suspension, Nunez has scored two goals from five league matches for Liverpool.
