Beşiktaş should be very pleased with the deal that they have gotten from Aston Villa for Tammy Abraham.
That’s at least according to Gökmen Özcan. He’s very enthused about the impending move, which should be finalised this week.
Abraham is set to join Aston Villa imminently after they struck a deal with Beşiktaş for him. The Villans are set to pay €21m plus youngster Yasin Özcan. The latter is being pulled for his loan with Anderlecht to be sent back to his homeland.
That deal has now been agreed, and Abraham is expected to fly to England at 6pm for the final stages of the move. He won’t be available for Aston Villa’s clash with Newcastle United this weekend.
He only joined Beşiktaş in the summer transfer window, signing on loan from Roma with a €13m obligation to buy. The Turkish side are activating that before selling him to Aston Villa and pocketing the profit in the process.
That, according to Özcan, is a remarkable deal that they should be celebrating. He certainly doesn’t see any issues.
“Selling Tammy Abraham at a profit would be an event like winning the lottery,” he said.
“Beşiktaş’s new striker to be acquired will directly affect the situation over the next 2 years.”
He’s now hoping that the Turkish side use the money wisely, having seemingly been less than impressed with their previous signings. Which description, if any, applies to Abraham, is unclear.
“Instead of someone with a hefty injury history, whose reputation lingers like a bad aftertaste, or a high-potential prospect, it is essential to sign a marquee goalscorer,” he added.
