Brighton and Hove Albion’s Julio Enciso has insisted he feels no pressure playing for Paraguay, and instead sees it as a dream come true.
The midfielder has been speaking to Tigo Sports, a TV channel, relayed by Versus, about his country and the pleasure he gets from international duty.
Enciso is seen as one of the leading players for his country thanks to the fact he plays in the Premier League and, at 20-years-old, has a bright future ahead of him.
He’s already made 19 appearances for his nation after making his debut in June 2021 when he was just 17 years old.
That includes appearances in the two Copa Américas, South American World Cup qualification and international friendlies.
He was back on duty during the last international break, adding to his growing tally with appearances against Ecuador and Venezuela in qualifying for the World Cup.
Given his status at Brighton he is expected to turn up for his nation and produce the goods but insists that doesn’t add any extra pressure. Instead, he plays with the freedom of a man who simply sees it as a dream come true.
“I try to enjoy it, it’s a motivation for me but that doesn’t mean it’s a responsibility,” he said.
“I don’t take it as a burden at all, because when I put on the National Team shirt it’s a huge joy, it’s like all the work I did as a child, the sacrifice of my entire family is reflected in that, in wearing the National Team shirt, sitting with my grandfather to watch the National Team matches.
“When I play for the National Team it’s like dreams come true, so it’s more like happiness, pride for me.”
