With Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho joining the Argentine national team for the first time, the local media has a lot to speak to him about.
The youngster had barely arrived in the South American country and immediately had a long interview with TyC Sports, who wanted to know everything about his expectations.
Garnacho has only one Argentine teammate at Manchester United, and that’s Lisandro Martinez. He was asked about his friendship with the defender, and revealed the big help he gets from him.
“Licha calls me Garna because there they call me that, but here they call me Ale. I like it and it will stay that way,” Garnacho told TyC Sports.
“Lisandro is like my dad in Manchester. He helps me a lot in everything he can. When I do something well, fine; when I do it wrong, he also tells me. He talks to me about the national team and helps me a lot.”
The player now continues to claim that he feels like he belongs there, and is actually proud of choosing to play for the World Cup winners.
“All my mum’s family is from Argentina, they always lived there. And dad’s family from Spain. Due to life circumstances, my mother’s family came to Spain and met my father and I was born there. And I am very close to my mother’s family, we have always supported the national team since I was little.
“I did not doubt anything because I feel Argentine, I am Argentine. They bet on me I was clear. It is a very large team, a very good opportunity and my whole family is very happy and supported me from minute one. I don’t need to play three games. I’m here, if I’m not making my debut on this tour then it doesn’t matter, I already know that I want to be with Argentina and it will happen.”
Argentina currently prepare to face Australia and Indonesia in a couple of friendlies, and that will be a good test for Garnacho to gain affection from national team fans.
