Marcel Sabitzer is “like a changed player” at Manchester United following his move from Bayern Munich in January.
That’s according to Sky Austria analysts Marko Stankovic and Walter Kogler, who have both taken an in-depth look at the Austrian’s early performances at Old Trafford.
Sabitzer arrived at Manchester United at the end of the January transfer window, with the Reds moving quickly to tie up a replacement for the injured Christian Eriksen.
The midfielder had been with Bayern since a €15m move from Leipzig in 2021 but has struggled to establish himself at the Allianz Arena in that time, finding himself out of favour this season as a result.
It was that which led to his move to Manchester United, where he has quickly been instilled into the starting XI by Erik ten Hag.
He’s impressed too, putting in solid performances in the double-headers with Leeds and the win over Leicester at the weekend.
That’s not gone unnoticed back in Germany, where Stankovic and Kogler took a look at how he has been performing and the fact he appears to be a completely different player.
“He’s like a changed player. At Manchester, he combines the Red Bull gene with his playful element,” stated Stankovic.
“He felt from the first minute that Manchester United wanted him at all costs,” added Kogler.
“At Bayern, you looked for Kimmich when you were in possession of the ball. That’s when he missed the ball. With Manchester it’s different, they look for him too and that’s where he has his strengths.
“He is very valuable both defensively and offensively – a real hub in Manchester’s game.”
