Newcastle United signed Henri Saivet from Bordeaux in January 2016 and since then, he has spent the majority of the time away on loan.
Having spent last season on loan at Bursaspor, the midfielder returned to the Tyneside club in the summer. Unfortunately for him, the 29-year-old wasn’t included in Steve Bruce’s plans and he hasn’t featured for the Magpies this season.
The Senegal international wanted to find a new club in the last window, but he was unsuccessful.
With his contract at St James’ Park set to expire in 2021, Saivet has another opportunity to leave Newcastle in the winter market.
According to Foot Mercato, Saivet, former Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony and Akhisarspor midfielder Adrien Regattin were proposed to Nîmes. However, the Ligue 1 side haven’t acted so far.
Nîmes are currently 19th in the table with 15 points, and are six points away from the safe zone.
With Nîmes deciding not to take necessary steps to sign Saivet or the other players, the Newcastle midfielder will have to find another club in the final days of the January window.
