With the new OM Champions Project already well underway at Marseille with the arrivals of Patrice Evra, Morgan Sanson and Dimitri Payet, the Ligue 1 side might turn once again to the Premier League to bolster their squad in the summer.
Desperately needing to improve their defence, Marseille have apparently targeted Manchester City’s Bacary Sagna as a potential recruit, according to Le10 Sport.
The French magazine claim that, having managed to lure Patrice Evra for nothing in January, there is hope they can do the same with Sagna, whose contract with Pep Guardiola’s team comes to an end in June.
Le10 state Manchester City aren’t particularly interested in offering him a renewal, meaning he will be available on a free this summer.
Marseille will take a long good look at him over the coming months, focusing on his performances, and if they like what they see, they will happily start negotiations for a contract in the summer.
The 33-year-old has been used in rotation with Pablo Zabaleta this season by Pep Guardiola, making 17 appearances in all competitions, assisting teammates twice along the way.
