Liam Cooper’s decade with Leeds United will always be the major part of his career.
He managed to be an important part of Leeds United’s return to the Premier League after far too long away, and left Elland Road when his contract expired at the end of June.
Now with CSKA Sofia, Cooper has struggled to get his career in Bulgaria going. An awful lot was expected of the 33-year-old and there’s a still a lot of patience and excitement around him.
Fakti report he picked up a suspected cracked rib before the current international break, and flew back to England so Leeds United could help out and examine it.
There’s no annoyance with that in the Bulgarian media, with it seeming like a sensible thing to do given his relationship with the club.
Cooper is also thought to have torn a muscle in his abdomen, but it’s insisted he’s been absolutely determined to play in the derby against Levski on Saturday.
There’s even been talk of him taking a painkilling injection to do so. However, he’s still not in full training, according to DSport, and without that happening his Levski hopes are slipping away.
