Over the past few days, the Italian media have insisted AC Milan are freshly optimistic of finding an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Emerson Royal.
On Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport said the Serie A side have made progress after Spurs lowered their demands, and the two clubs are ‘arguing over the last million’ to agree a deal. It was also stated Milan were set to hold fresh talks with Tottenham yesterday.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Tottenham player is ‘getting closer and closer’ to the San Siro, something that’s been repeatedly mentioned in Italy this week. He shares the latest on why the right-back could end up joining Milan in this window.
Di Marzio says there was a meeting between the Rossoneri and the 25-year-old’s agent, Stefano Castagna, on Wednesday, to sort out the details of the player’s contract.
Paulo Fonseca’s side seem to have also made progress in their negotiations with Spurs as the journalist says they are ‘finalising the details’ of the operation for around €15m plus bonuses.
The journalist further adds ‘everything will be settled in 2-3 days’, meaning Emerson will be living his last days as a Tottenham player.
Thursday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport claims the white smoke for Emerson’s signing is one step away.
They also talk about yesterday’s meeting between Tottenham and Milan, and make it clear the parties haven’t found an agreement yet, but distance is minimal.
Gazzetta say ‘Daniel Levy is a tough nut to track’, and is in no hurry to sell the player, keeping Milan on strings. This was demonstrated on Wednesday, when Ange Postecoglou started Emerson in Tottenham’s friendly against K-League XI.
