After great performances at the World Cup, Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol was linked to several Premier League clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur included.
But despite the many rumours about his potential January move away from RB Leipzig, the defender ended up staying at the Bundesliga side, who will have to make new efforts to hold him next summer.
Now as Italian outlet CalcioMercato.it writes about Gvardiol’s future, they once again say Tottenham would like to sign him, although he already has another destination on his mind.
The outlet says the defender would like to join Real Madrid, who are in pole position to sign him from RB Leipzig. The La Liga giants would still need to find an agreement with the German side, since the player is valued at €100m.
In case that doesn’t happen, then the Premier League is an alternative, and that’s where Tottenham get a mention. CalcioMercato says ‘even’ Spurs are candidates to land Gvardiol, but the problem is that ‘Levy doesn’t spend crazy money’ on signings, and would find it difficult to compete against other English clubs.
