On March 4th, Sabah reported Manchester City had watched Beşiktaş’s Semih Kılıçsoy in action against Galatasaray.
Since then, the Premier League winners have taken further steps in their chase for the 18-year-old.
TGRT Haber commentator Bülent Uslu says Manchester City have sent a ‘letter of interest’ for the winger, and there’s also another unnamed club that is keen on signing him.
Uslu claims Kılıçsoy will be sold for ‘very serious figures’ but makes no mention of the actual fee needed to sign the Turkey U18 international.
Kılıçsoy has 10 goals and an assist from 26 games this season, out of which only one goal was scored before Christmas.
According to Akşam, Pep Guardiola’s side have already gathered positive reports about the youngster. His deal lasts until 2028 and although the Black Eagles want to retain him, the report says the rising star will leave them at the end of this season.
Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Benfica, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund and Sporting are also following him closely, but Manchester City have managed to leave these clubs behind in the transfer chase.
According to the report, Guardiola had requested the Citizens closely monitor Kılıçsoy, and the reports collected so far have been positive.
Therefore, Manchester City will ‘step in’ to sign him in the summer and official talks are expected to start soon. If the treble winners were to secure his services, it’s not ruled out for them to initially send Kılıçsoy out on loan.
