As Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin continues to be a big topic in the Romanian media, we now get to see a former West Ham United player commenting on the situation.
Outlet Prima Sport today features some quotes from Florin Raducioiu, who, on the Football Show, had been speaking about the defender’s current struggles in the Premier League.
The 53-year-old, who played for West Ham in 1996, now has some questions for Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou about Dragusin’s lack of playing time at Spurs.
“In the case of Radu Drăguşin, it is totally different. He knew very well where he was going. Great attention, because these two players, in this system that the Tottenham coach plays, are two fantastic players.
“Even Romero scored. He is an extraordinary player, a player so strong, so fast and so precise in his passes. It won’t be easy for Radu Drăguşin, because, I repeat, he has two fantastic players in front of him,” said Raducioiu.
Tottenham invested €25m to get Dragusin signed in January, and so far, he only has eight minutes on the pitch, as he was brought on at the end of three matches.
“I don’t know what will happen, but it’s hard to believe he’ll play. We might as well send one of our colleagues to a press conference if you want me to go. I’ll ask the coach, next game in London and I’ll ask him:’I’m Florin Răducioiu, not a journalist, I represent Prima Sport, with regard to my countryman, whom I hold in high esteem, when do you think our player can play, in view of the European Championship that awaits us?’ and let’s see what he says.”
Raducioiu joined West Ham on a loan from RCD Espanyol in the summer of 1996, and only stayed in London for six months until returning to Spain.
In his time in England, the former striker had two goals in 11 matches for the Hammers.
In interviews after the end of his career, he admitted he had problems at the Premier League club, especially because he didn’t have a good relationship with manager Harry Redknapp.
