Over the past few days, the Italian media have stated that AS Roma are set to challenge Leicester City in the race for Juventus’ Matias Soulé.
Two days ago, Corriere dello Sport reported the 21-year-old would favour the Serie A side over the Foxes.
On Tuesday, Gazzetta dello Sport said the Old Lady keen to sell him to Leicester, who are on pole to sign him. It was also stated Juve want €40m, but a deal could be agreed for €35m, which is €5m [including bonuses] more than what the Premier League side offered initially.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà claims the winger is a concrete target for Steve Cooper’s side. They seem to be in no mood to give up despite Roma’s interest in the Argentina U21 international.
Juve would prefer to sell the player to the Premier League, but won’t close the door on other clubs if they table an offer worth €35m.
Pedullà says this ‘could arrive soon’ from Leicester as they ‘prepare a new offer’ of €30m plus €5m bonuses. This should put them in the lead as the journalist claims Roma could only get back in the race if their proposal is better than that of the English club.
The Turin club will sell the South American to the highest bidder, and Soulé’s agent Martin Guastadisegno is in Italy to sort out his client’s exit from Juve. There should be developments in this case in the coming few days.
