It appears that Leicester City, after trying their best to convince Fiorentina to sell, are going to give up on Nicolas Gonzalez.
This comes courtesy of TuttoMercatoWeb, who point out the Serie A side have ‘kept their word’ and have ‘no intention’ of selling the Argentine forward to the Foxes.
Unlike what happened with Dusan Vlahovic, they will not give in, meaning Leicester will now have to look elsewhere.
They back up claims that Fiorentina have rejected a €35m offer from the Premier League side, which was an improved version of their first bid of €30m.
The idea is for the Italians to keep their player until the summer, at which point they will ‘listen to offers starting in June’.
As for Leicester in all this, it’s said they will ‘turn to other goals’, and while they want a winger, they won’t get him in Italy, where they felt the Fiorentina man was ‘the right player for their needs’.
To emphasise everything further, TuttoMercatoWeb make it clear that ‘no further relaunch is expected’ from the Foxes, and while Newcastle are still hovering, they are more interested for the summer than January.
