When you club signs a player from a foreign league, we know exactly what you do. First you look for his position. Then you watch some youtube videos and try to figure out exactly how will he fit in the team.
But some players are a bit unpredictable, which is the case of Ricardo Pereira. The Portuguese international, who has just signed for Leicester City, can play in at least three different roles.
This was a subject in Pereira’s press conference with the Portuguese national team on Saturday. The 24-year-old was asked which position he’ll play under manager Fernando Santos, and made sure to say he’s pretty much available to do anything the manager needs.
“I feel better on the right, but if the manager understands that I have to play on the front or on the left, I will be here,” said the player, who can play both as a fullback and as a winger (via O Jogo).
The Leicester City move was also mentioned in the interview, and Pereira feels glad that the transfer was done before the World Cup.
“Leicester will be a challenge, but let’s take some time to think about it. Now the focus is on the national team. It’s important to come here already with things defined, so that I can worry only with the works of the national team.”
“The call-up was a very good surprise and crowned a great season. In terms of adaptation, it will be very important to have Adrien there.”
