Expected to leave Lyon in the summer, Houssem Aouar, despite receiving some offers, ended up staying in France.

His contract there expires at the end of the season, and while a renewal hasn’t been ruled out, it’s believed he’s waiting to see what opportunities are brought to him by his agents, which could include a move to Leicester City.

That’s according to Roma Giallorossa in Italy, who explain that AS Roma are among those also interested in the player, providing competition to the Foxes.

They state ‘there has been contact between José Mourinho and the player’ in order to try and convince him to move to Serie A, but Leicester could have the upper hand.

This is because the midfielder ‘he gives priority to England’, where Nottingham Forest tried to bring him to in the summer.

They have seemingly moved on, and it is now ‘Leicester putting a strong pressing’ on convincing the player to move to King Power Stadium.

As things stand, Aouar has ‘not closed the doors’ to a move to AS Roma, but it remains to be seen if they can sway him entirely away from the Premier League.

Down Leicester’s end, a few more good results could convince him that they aren’t heading for a continuous relegation battle, with Brendan Rodgers’ side currently 18th in the table after 13 games.
