Real Betis are back in contention for Ayoze Pérez after Villarreal backed out of the deal to sign the Leicester City player.
The forward has a deal expiring in June and has reached an agreement with the Foxes to terminate his contract.
That’s according to AS, who explain the Leicester player will join Betis for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, Estadio Deportivo also state Brendan Rodgers’ side have released the 29-year-old, which will allow him to join another club for free on deadline day.
The former Newcastle United man will become the La Liga side’s second signing of the winter market.
It’s claimed Betis chiefs Ramón Alarcón and Antonio Cordón Ruiz gained time to carry out the operation after Pérez gave approval to Los Verdiblancos. He has let his agent know about the desire to return to Spain and join Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
The Leicester man will travel to Madrid on Tuesday, where he will meet his agents. They will then travel to Seville to sort out the last details and complete the transfer to Betis.
ED state several clubs in England and Spain approached Pérez, but he favoured Betis. As per the report, he will sign a short-term contract until June, which will then allow him to either negotiate a new deal with Betis or with another club in the summer.
