It’s been a long transfer window for Islam Slimani, unwanted at AS Monaco, where his loan was ended, and out of Brendan Rodgers’ plans at Leicester City.

The Algeria international, prolific when given a run of games, has struggled to make a place for himself at King Power Stadium, and there’s a good chance he heads out again, but this time for good.

The 32-year-old’s contract at Leicester runs out next summer, so unless he renews it for a year, a loan deal would be out of the question.

Either way, he might get a chance in Italy, where Torino are keen on a new striker, and they could find their man in the Algerian.

That’s according to both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere Torino, who name Slimani as one of the options for the Serie A club on transfer deadline day, explaining he’s one of a few including Fabio Borini and Roberto Inglese.

There’s no details about what kind of move it would be, but unless Leicester City release the striker of his deal much like they did with Adrien Silva, it seems unlikely the Italians would want to spend big(ish) money on him.

We’ll have to wait and see and we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on things.
