Loaned out to Fiorentina last year, Rachid Ghezzal was always going to struggle to make it into Brendan Rodgers’ plans at Leicester City.

Then came the announcement that Cengiz Ünder, who mostly plays in his position, would be arriving on loan with a view to buy from AS Roma, putting the final nail in the Algerian’s coffin.

This led to a loan move to Beşiktaş being organised on October 5th, where he has already played two games and picked up an assist.

The Algeria international appears to have settled in quite nicely early on, and he sat down for a press conference following his move, which has been relayed by Asist Analiz on social media.

Describing himself as ‘very happy’ to be at Beşiktaş, Ghezzal saw the move as a ‘good opportunity’ for him in a good league where he will do his best and ‘continue to be useful to the team’.

He was also asked about Cengiz Ünder and his move to Leicester City.

Ghezzal said: “I met him before I came here. He’s very fast and a technical football player. He will do good work. Caglar [Söyüncü] will help him a lot”.

As for the future, the winger doesn’t want to get ahead of himself, knowing full well there’s a long season ahead and there will be time to see if the move can be made permanent should he perform.

He said: “I’ve only played two games so far. Everything is going well for now. It’s too early to talk about the contract. We have a long time ahead until the end of the campaign”.
