Watford midfielder Yaser Asprilla is edging closer to a move to Leicester City after a switch to Stade Rennais appeared to collapse.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that the young Watford star could end up in the Premier League this summer rather than Ligue 1.
They explain that Rennes had been attracted to the Watford man and were ‘seduced by the profile’ of the Colombian, approaching the Hornets about a deal and studying the feasibility of it taking place.
They were very much in the race for Asprilla’s signature but the competition for him now means their hopes of getting that done look slim.
Porto had expressed an interest but according to FM’s latest information, his agent is currently in England to negotiate a €25m deal with Leicester instead.
The agent has put Leicester at the top of the list at this moment in time as they are able to pay the ‘more than 10% commission’ that he was looking for from the operation.
That kind of operation is illegal in France and so has seen the track leading to Rennes cool down considerably, putting the Foxes out in front.
