FC Union midfielder Rani Khedira has attracted interest from Leicester City, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the 29-year-old’s availability on a free transfer has opened up a possible move to England.
The newspaper explains that the midfielder, who only joined Union in 2021, ‘has developed into a leader’ at the club, particularly this season where they have been competing for the Bundesliga title.
His contract is set to expire in the summer and because of that the vice-captain, who was part of the extended Germany squad for the World Cup in Qatar, Khedira is ‘in great demand’.
The belief is that he will have a number of options on the table at the end of the season and ‘will be playing’ with Leicester, Newcastle and Wolves on that front.
There is no mention of whether those clubs have been in touch as yet, just that they are among the interested parties at this point.
It makes sense too, with Leicester looking likely to lose Youri Tielemans and pretty much all of Wolves’ midfielders linked with moves away this summer as well.
Newcastle will also be looking at reinforcements, particularly after letting Jonjo Shelvey leave in January, and need to be careful with their money in terms of FFP.
If any of them win the race or he ends up elsewhere will be determined in the summer, but the interest is there nonetheless.
