Leicester City haven’t given up in their pursuit of Middlesbrough forward with claims this will be decisive week with the player’s future.
TMW have today reported contact between Leicester City and Middlesbrough is ongoing, and talks have taken place in the past few hours. Middlesbrough are keen to keep hold of Ramirez, especially with their Premier League status at stake.
Despite Middlesbrough willingness to keep the Uruguay international, the player has requested to be sold to Leicester City if the right conditions are met.
Around ten days ago it was reported in the Italian media Leicester City had an agreement in principle to sign Ramirez for €15m. However, Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has played down this speculation saying no bid has come in from Leicester City.
Despite Karanka’s comments these rumours aren’t likely to go until the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
These kind of claims are a theme of Ramirez’s career, happening most transfer windows. Sometimes it’s pushing for a better contract, more recognition, and sometimes the player and his representatives are genuinely keen on a switch.
