Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet is Torino’s ‘number one target’ for coach Davide Vagnati in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Toro.it, who say the midfielder is also the ‘dream of many fans’ as a potential return to the club picks up pace.

Those fans have been leaving messages on the player’s social media accounts, urging him to return to the club where he spent last season on loan.

Praet left a ‘great memory’ with everyone involved at the club, so much so that their decision not to sign him permanently in the summer was met with derision from all angles.

He has, though, remained on their radar and fortunately for them their good feelings are reciprocated by the player, who would ‘gladly return’ if given the chase.

He waited until the last minute for a deal to happen in the summer but was forced to stay in England, where he has stayed on the sidelines under Brendan Rodgers.

That saw him miss out on a place in Belgium’s squad for the World Cup and he wants out in the January transfer window.

Leicester have ‘already opened the door’ to a possible departure but would like to sell him outright in the summer than anything temporary in January.

The two clubs have been working on a potential agreement to suit both, with a loan deal that includes a buying obligation at the end of it.

Contacts between the two sides are ongoing but there is a feeling that Leicester are not ‘in a hurry to find a deal’ despite Torino’s best efforts.

That’s because Leicester are aware that Praet is liked by other teams and are trying to work out if there is the possibility of ‘starting an auction’ and ramping up the player’s price tag in the process.
