Leicester City are ‘making intensive efforts’ to sign midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud in the summer when he leaves Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.
That’s according to Ruhr Nachrichten, who say the Foxes are among those pushing for Dahoud’s signature as a departure from Dortmund grows increasingly likely.
The newspaper explains that at this moment in time the ‘trend is going abroad’ for Dahoud, who is yet to see offers from RB Leipzig and AC Milan materialise.
The problem for them, at this moment in time, is that they are fighting against relegation and there is a lack of clarity over their future in terms of the manager too, with Dean Smith only in charge until the end of the season.
That means Dahoud is unlikely to make a decision on a move, given he’s prioritised playing under the right manager for the next stage of his career.
Thus, Leicester may need to convince him with their next managerial appointment, with the suggestion from Ruhr Nachrichten that Dean Smith is not a big enough name to make Dahoud settle on them.
The Foxes are very much working on bringing the midfielder to England, though, seeing him as an excellent option as he is available on a free and not a player who ‘exhausts the financial side to the last’ in terms of contract negotiations.
