On Wednesday, we relayed an article from Corriere dello Sport claiming that Leicester were ‘preparing a €22m bid’ for Roma’s Leandro Paredes, and on Thursday there’s been an update.
The aforementioned newspaper don’t have a follow up other than a repeat of their previous claims, but it’s another Italian daily who provides it, and one that specifically focuses on Rome clubs.
Il Tempo on Thursday claim Leicester have indeed made a bid of around €20m for the Argentinean defensive midfielder, which has been received by Roma (no answer yet).
Furthermore, the Italian newspaper claim Leicester have also initiated contact with the player’s agent to try and get personal terms resolved ahead of the proposed move.
Milan were also reported to be interested, but they are one step behind as they are yet to have made an official bid for the regista, while Zenit have (€15m, which wasn’t deemed good enough, according to Il Messaggero) and Juventus remain attentive.
It’s always a good sign if two different newspapers agree on a story, especially if updates come on a daily basis and make sense, as the normal outcome tends to be a clash of information.
This doesn’t mean this will definitely happen, as Roma can easily either ask for more money or decide they want to keep the 22-year-old, but it seems Leicester are indeed after Paredes.
Do they need another central midfielder for Ranieri’s 4-4-2 (they already have 6)? That’s a different matter altogether.
