Mexican side Cruz Azul’s Roberto Alvarado has caught attention from Europe, if reports coming out of the Netherlands are to be believed.

According to Voetbal International, the 21-year-old is included in Ajax’s transfer wish-list.

The attacking midfielder is also on Premier League clubs’ radar as Leicester City and Crystal Palace have a ‘concrete eye’ on him.

Ajax view the Mexico international as a successor for either of Donny van de Beek or Hakim Ziyech. The latter two are of interest for several top European clubs and if one of them leaves the Dutch champions, Alvarado could take their place in the squad.

For now, the report only states Ajax, along with the Foxes and Roy Hodgson’s side, have an eye on the player. There’s no information if any of the clubs have submitted an offer.

Alvarado has a €15m release clause in his contract and the report adds a potential deal between Ajax and Cruz Azul has been ruled out in January. The Eredivisie winners will have to wait until the summer. It’s not clear if the same is applicable to Leicester and Palace.
