A couple of weeks ago, the Portuguese media started publishing many reports about Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers being keen on FC Porto defender David Carmo.
It was claimed that both clubs were impressed with the centre-back’s loan spell at Olympiacos, and would battle for his signing.
Newspapers O Jogo and Record today both report that the first bid for Carmo arrived, but not from Leicester City or Wolves.
It’s Olympiacos who are trying to buy the centre-back, offering €12m up front plus €3m in potential bonuses.
O Jogo points out that the Greek side made that offer as soon as they heard about Leicester City and Wolves interest. And even though the buying option was higher, worth €17.5m, there’s a chance Porto will end up taking that bid.
Record writes that the English clubs mad ‘exploratory contacts’ to find out the conditions for a deal, but haven’t placed their bids so far. So it seems time may be running out, partly because it’d be financially useful for the Dragons to accept an offer before the end of the month.
