Islam Slimani was the protagonist of one of the most boring sagas of the summer, but we must admit the last days of the window are making it pretty exciting.
Leicester City and West Bromwich are now said to be the only two clubs in the race, with one newspaper pointing to each direction.
According to Record, West Bromwich’s offer is way more attractive for Sporting to sell. The Baggies are not only offering the €30m demanded by the Portuguese club, but also €5m in bonuses.
Leicester made a €25m bid, which was turned down by Sporting, but the Foxes are keeping contact with the club and the player’s agents in order to offer something close to what WBA did.
In the player’s view, the fact that Leicester are in the Champions League is something favourable for Claudio Ranieri’s side, but it doesn’t really matter for Sporting, who are more interested in the money.
But O Jogo’s information is a bit different. They claim that Leicester are ready to bid €30m, beating WBA, who O Jogo say didn’t reach that amount yet.
The Foxes’ advantage would also be that they want to pay it up front, whilst the Baggies’ intention is to make it in two instalments. The Champions League spot could also be something decisive.
Both newspapers agree that today’s match against Porto should be Slimani’s last game for Sporting, since both clubs are meeting Sporting’s demands and it’s a matter of picking one of them now.
