Palmeiras are close to announcing Bruno Fuchs on a permanent deal, but that development does not rule out future interest from Leicester City.
New reporting from Nosso Palestra claims the Brazilian club have settled the final details of the defender’s contract, which should run until the end of 2029. The next step is to trigger the €3.5m clause agreed with Atlético Mineiro, allowing an official announcement in the coming days.
The move strengthens Palmeiras’ position at a moment when European attention around Fuchs has grown. Leicester City recently sent a scout to watch the 26-year-old, even though it was already public that Palmeiras intended to buy him outright.
That point matters, because it shows Leicester’s interest goes beyond the loan situation and suggests a permanent deal in Brazil may not act as an immediate barrier.
Still, the long contract creates a new dynamic. Palmeiras will have full control of any negotiation from 2026 onwards, and the club do not plan to entertain offers in the short term.
They see Fuchs as part of their core structure for next season, after using him in 43 matches across domestic and international competitions. His performances convinced the board early, and Abel Ferreira continues to value his presence, even when rotating the squad.
For Leicester, the scenario works in two directions. Palmeiras’ rapid move to secure the defender makes any approach more complex, but the fact that the Championship club observed him despite knowing the planned purchase indicates they may be willing to revisit the player later.
The story now shifts to how Fuchs performs in 2026 and whether interest from England survives the new contract cycle.
