Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud is ‘about to move’ to England and has already completed a medical, with Leicester City, Brighton and Newcastle all potentially in the mix for him.
That’s according to Sport 1, who say the BVB midfielder has been ‘caught on a secret trip’ to England to undergo a medical test in London.
The website explains that Dahoud is set to depart in the summer after he and Dortmund agreed not to extend his expiring contract.
He has not played for the Bundesliga side since they announced his impending departure in February, and he is ‘appreciated’ by many clubs in Germany and abroad.
Leicester are one of the sides to have been heavily linked in recent weeks, with a report earlier this month stating that they were making intensive efforts to sign him this summer.
Sport 1 don’t say he’ll be joining the Foxes but do mention Leicester as one of the clubs who could be interested in his signature alongside Newcastle and Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Foxes have been heavily linked for the past few months, with it even claimed earlier this month that they were working intensively to secure his signature.
Brighton in particular are interested via Roberto De Zerbi, who ‘has been digging’ at Dahoud and tried to sign him for former club Sassuolo.
He is likely to need new midfielders this summer, with Moises Caicedo and Alexis MacAllister both linked with moves away after superb campaigns. Dahoud could be an ideal replacement with his ‘fighting spirit and playful class’.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are only named as a potential ‘interested’ party as they plan to add to Eddie Howe’s squad this summer ahead of competing in the Champions League.
All Sport 1 know at this point is that Dahoud has been in England for a medical and is ‘about to move’ to a Premier League club, who that is remains ‘unclear’ and he hasn’t signed a deal with anyone as yet.
He also has inquiries from Italy and Spain, as well as inside the Bundesliga, but Sport 1 say he would ‘definitely be ready’ to play in England if the opportunity presents itself.
