Just a few days ago, various sources in the Italian press claimed Leicester City were close to signing Atalanta fullback Robin Gosens in a deal worth around €25m.

There’s been a little confusion over whether the Foxes were offering that amount or the Italian side were demanding that much, but still, the local media sounded confident about the move.

However, in an update from website CalcioMercato.it today, it’s now claimed there’s still a big race for the signing, and things shouldn’t be sorted so soon.

They start by saying that there’s no official offer for the player so far, despite what’s been written recently. But the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and Leicester City are indeed interested.

It’s said none of these clubs have moved yet, each one for their own reasons. In the Foxes’ case, it’s said they’re waiting for the end of the Premier League campaign to know if they’ll be in the Champions League and therefore have a bigger budget for the summer.

The report now claims Atalanta should demand ‘between €25m and €30m’ for the player, and things will only get sorted when the season comes to an end.

Then things are a little different when reported by FC Inter News. They name the same three clubs in the race for Gosens, and claim that Leicester City were the only to move so far.

The Foxes reportedly made an ‘official offer of €25m while Atalanta now demand between €35m and €40m, according to their information. So that’s another sign that this saga will go on for a while.
