On Saturday morning we covered claims from Italy which stated Matias Soule had said yes to moving to Leicester City, was excited about playing in the Premier League, and it was just a matter of the Foxes agreeing a deal with Juventus.
Throughout the day that changed progressively and a headline in Sunday’s edition of Corriere della Sera reads ‘yes to the Giallorossi’.
According to the Rome edition of the Italian newspaper, Soule has now agreed to join AS Roma, and the Serie A club will begin negotiations with Juventus.
Premier League interest is mentioned, with Leicester City picked out specifically, but it’s now said Soule prefers to join AS Roma and continue in Italian football.
Corriere della Sera believe a deal can be agreed for €25m plus bonuses, which is around what Leicester City were said to have seen rejected.
Whether the Foxes were used to flush out other interest isn’t clear, but if not then it’s been a frustrating 24 hours for the club’s transfer plans.
