Galatasaray could offer an escape route for Leicester City midfielder Gökhan Inler after their pursuit of Lucas Leiva failed due to Jurgen Klopp’s reluctance to let the Brazilian go. A deal had been close, but Klopp feels he needs Lucas to stay and cover injuries.
According to Aspor, Galatasaray see 32-year old Inler as an ideal midfield partner for captain Selçuk İnan, giving the club renewed strength in the middle of the pitch.
Inler, who is of Turkish heritage but plays for the Switzerland national team, said recently he would love to join the Turkish giants. Inler has 83 caps for Switzerland but was left out of his country’s Euro 2016 squad because of his lack of appearances at the Premier League Champions.
Inler was signed by Claudio Ranieri for €7M last summer but only made 5 Premier League appearances. When he joined Leicester it was seen as a really good signing, but things haven’t worked out well enough for the player.
