Leicester City were victors in the Community Shield on Saturday, as they beat Manchester City to the trophy.
It further underlines the stature of the club, and the Foxes being well respected around world football helps Brendan Rodgers attract transfer targets. This means that them being linked with big deals isn’t such a surprise these days, and Inter Live claim the club have made an ambitious attempt to take two players from Inter Milan.
The Serie A champions are in a complete mess this summer, having won the title just months ago. Antonio Conte walked out when it became clear the club didn’t match his plans for the coming season, and Achraf Hakimi moved to PSG, with Romelu Lukaku thought to be on the verge of joining Chelsea.
Other players have been linked with moves, and if Inter Live are correct, Leicester have tried to take advantage of the situation. They say the club would be willing to pay €48m to sign Marcelo Brozovic and Stefan de Vrij.
The latter would be cover for Wesley Fofana, and it’s stated Leicester would be considered a ‘suitable’ destination. Mino Raiola, De Vrij’s agent, is said to be assisting. However, the offer would be ‘difficult’ for Inter to accept, because if those two players, both loved by fans, left then there’d be a ‘real revolt’.
