As Sporting continue hoping they can sign Islam Slimani from Leicester City this summer, they continue to approach the transfer in every possible way.

On Monday, newspaper Record claims club president Sousa Cintra has already spoken to the player himself.

Slimani has always been well aware of Sporting’s wish to have him back, and now in a personal conversation he’s said to have shown that this desire is reciprocal.

Record say that whilst Leicester City are willing to negotiate a transfer, it’s not in the way Sporting want to. The Lions can only afford a loan deal, while the Foxes want a permanent transfer.

This would contradict claims from Turkey that Bestikas have had a positive response to a Slimani loan offer.

According to Record, Leicester City want to recover at least part of the €30m that was spent on the striker back in 2016.

As the Lions can’t afford that, they ‘will wait until the limit’. It means that in case Leicester City can’t sell Slimani before the end of the transfer market, then Sporting will be there waiting to get him on loan.
