Leicester City’s head of recruitment Eduardo Macia was spotted at the match between Fiorentina and Sassuolo, reports Firenzeviola.

Macia was spotted in the mixed zone, but didn’t speak to any journalists, and it’s not clear why he was in Florence.

Firenzeviola believe Leicester City could revive their interest in Josip Iličic, who was a previous target for them, whilst Tutto Mercato Web believe Leicester had their eyes on Grégoire Defrel.

With 4 goals and 5 assists, Ilicic has been in impressive form for the Serie A club this season, but his future is uncertain as he has another 18 months left on his contact.

Defrel has also started the season impressively with 10 goals and 4 assists to his name so far, and has been linked to a number of clubs recently.

Macia was the technical director at Fiorentina in between 2011/12 and 2014/15, so it’s very possible it was just a casual visit to his old club before Christmas, but then that wouldn’t be quite as exciting.

Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester have, over the past year or so, been repeatedly linked with player’s from Italy, given the club’s manager is from the country.
