The Shoya Nakajima situation is turning into something of a saga, with Leicester part of the supporting cast, second fiddle to Wolves, since early December.

But it was the Foxes who had actually been linked first, back in October of this year.

We covered claims, originally from Japan, that Leicester were preparing a €20m offer for the winger, ahead of the January transfer window. Looking to get in there before others.

Leicester officials then started popping up at Portimonense matches, and even though the club are going through one of their better patches… there’s not an awful lot to see at Portimonense.

When the Foxes send scouts to Sporting, Benfica or Porto, the target could be any one of more than five, but this time it all looked to firm up the Nakajima interest.

Today’s edition of A Bola says that Leicester ‘joins’ the small list of clubs who are ‘very interested’ in signing the player in January. Of course, they’ve hardly just joined given the earlier reports.

The story continues as it has previously, Portimonense want as close to the €40m buyout clause as possible.

Unless the Japan international has an amazing Asian Cup, with the competition starting in a week, then that isn’t happening.
